Sometime around 5PM EST today Urban Meyer will be sworn in as the new head ball coach at Ohio State University. Apparently turning his back on his alleged "health and family issues," Urban will replace unseated coach Jim Tressel and take the reigns from interim lackey Luke Fickell.
There are just a few problems I have with this whole ordeal. You remember less than a month ago when the phrases "moral responsibility" were being thrown around with Joe Paterno? Well, with all due respect Mr. Meyer, your deserting ass had a moral responsibility to not shack up with another program after trying to sink Florida's twice.
I'd be remiss to leave out that I'm writing this while on tilt, but to witness this last Gator football season that ruined John Brantley, lost to every team worth a damn, and finished a hair above .500 and essentially locking us into the Gator Bowl against a lame duck Big 10 team has been quite emotional. With what we are hearing now, though, it didn't have to be that way.
Hearing what he has to say about that whole personal issue should be a doozy, but an apology to our school should be in order. For two straight years, Urban announced he had left the position as coach, with the last one ever so permanent. The recruiting, team morale, and overall on-the-field effect has been immeasurable. Some may scream No. 15's name, but the coach is the one who built something, only to run and hide for selfish reasons.
So for now I'll sit back, watch this circus and pray that Michigan upends Ohio State for the next decade as revenge for the Wolverine's unsightly run. But by then, Urban will surely be under NCAA investigation, gone completely from coaching, or dead from the thing he couldn't stop doing. Along the way, just don't ever show your face in Alachua County, okay?
Oh, and this little ditty goes out to you, liar.
